About the Big Sur International Marathon

The 2013 Big Sur International Marathon (BSIM) takes place in April 2013 and will be its 28th year.

Recently named the best destination marathon by Runner's World, it's also one of the top three courses in the U.S.

Join our running team and take part in the largest rural marathon in the world - the stunning course winds through groves of giant redwoods, fields of wildflowers and meadows on to steep rocky cliffs with breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean

There's even live entertainment dotted at various mile markers, featuring an eclectic mix of local entertainment from classical and jazz, to rock and roll. Famously, there’s a grand pianist at Bixby Bridge!

Runners must be 16 years or older, in good health and well trained. BSIM is a challenging course with a cut-off time of 6 hours.

Only those participants who are able to complete in that time will receive a BSIM Medal, certificate and be listed in results. If a participant has not reached Mile 22 by the 5 hour mark, he/she will not be allowed to proceed past that point.

Supporting you all the way

Every runner will receive a Runner's Pack containing lots of information about training and fundraising.

Our team is always easy to spot in our colourful Mr Happy and Mr Tickle running vests.

The Expo is open for pick up packet, Pasta Party and post-race party tickets in the days leading up to race day (from noon to 6pm).
