About the Bupa Great Manchester Run

The Bupa Great Manchester Run starts and finishes in the city centre. The first kilometre of the route takes you past the G-Mex, the old Hacienda building and Deansgate Lock before joining up with the Chester Road and Bridgewater Way for the clear, fast run out to Trafford and the Quays with the sights of Old Trafford and the Imperial War Museum. It is then back up Chester Road to the finish on Deansgate.

The Bupa Great Manchester Run 2011 will be the race’s sixth consecutive year and there are plans to make the event better than ever. A great course, a large number of bands, a charity village as well as a range of other activities and entertainments across the City help make this a special day for runners and spectators alike.

Supporting you all the way

For the Bupa Great Manchester Run, the CHILDREN with CANCER team is always easy to spot in our trademark Mr Happy and Mr Tickle running vests.

Our supporters are along the route to help cheer you to the finish where a team of staff and volunteers are on hand to greet each and every runner, no matter how long it takes to complete the course!

Each runner, their families and friends are also invited to joins us afterwards at a simple reception, held just yards from the finish in the Charity Village, to enjoy some refreshment and a chance to unwind and reflect on the day with fellow Mr Men and Little Miss team mates.
