Charlie's Cycling Circus is a group of Salisbury FC fans who cycled 215 miles, from Salisbury to Chester, for the final game of the season to raise money for us - and inspired by cancer patient Charlie.

Team member, Stuart, tells their story:

Well - we completed our epic 215 mile charity bike ride to Chester FC in aid of Children with Cancer UK - but it wasn't without battling some horrific weather and individual physical and mental challenges.

We are inspired by Charlie

Young Charlie has been battling cancer for a number of years now. He has endured chemotherapy, radiotherapy, marrow transplant and everything this sometimes cruel world could throw at him. Through all this he still has a smile on his face, the courage of a lion and the strength and belief to humble the best of us.

Well - we completed our epic 215 mile charity bike ride to Chester FC in aid of Children with Cancer - but it wasn't without battling some horrific weather and individual physical and mental challenges.

Day 1 – a smooth start

The first day's 90 mile trek to Tewkesbury went really well, starting at the RayMac at 7am and reaching our first overnight stop by 5 in the evening. The weather was kind to us and only one puncture marred the day.

Day 2 – ferocious weather!

Charlies Cycling Circus floods on the roadThe second day however, an 80 mile ride to Newport, was completed in continuous driving rain, flash floods, strong winds and surface water.

The whole team was soaked and cold from start to finish. It was a real test for everyone. On that day alone we collected over £200 from well-wishers and people whose families had also succumbed to this terrible disease.

Day 3 – the calm after the storm

The final day was superb. We woke to blue skies and dry roads and reached Chester FC in just three hours. We had a fantastic welcome from City supporters, parents and Chester FC officials. The club was very hospitable.

Please continue to support us

Please support Children with Cancer UK to help determine the causes, find cures and provide care for children and their families who are suffering from this terrible disease.
