Ramadan fundraising – children raise over £20,000

A group of 5,000 children have raised over £20,000.00 for Children with Cancer UK throughout the month of Ramadan.

The UK Islamic Mission (UKIM) is a network of mosques and Islamic schools across the country, providing education to over 5,000 Muslim children. One of UKIM’s main activities is raising funds for relief and welfare projects, supported by the charitable arm of the organisation called iCare. This year, for the first time, they chose to support a UK charity and we are thrilled to have been selected. The London Season’s Queen Charlotte's Ball celebrates its 236th anniversary in 2016. Once the preserve if young aristocrats, who were presented to the monarch by their fathers to mark their entrance into high society, the modern-day version of this event brings together young women from across the globe to raise money for good causes. The debutantes will be escorted by their fathers and greeted by London Season Patrons H.H. Princess Olga Romanoff and the Duke and Duchess of Somerset. Stacie completed the 2016 London 2 Brighton Challenge in memory of a very special little girl called Georgia. Stacie tells us why she took on the challenge:

"Hi, my name is Stacie Louise Bousfield. I am 24 years old and work as a teaching assistant and holiday club play leader. Through my job I get to work with some truly incredible children. Friends and family gathered to remember Hollie Robinson at a very special fundraising event in December 2015 at Wealdstone Football Club.

There was entertainment, fireworks, raffles and a silent auction. £5,470 was raised for Children with Cancer UK. About Hollie Hollie was diagnosed with leukaemia when she was just four years old. She was a bright, sweet and funny girl, who touched the hearts of everyone she met. Hollie enjoyed attending events organised by Children with Cancer UK. Climb with Ed - over £48,000 raised!

10-year-old Ed Gordon-Thomson trekked up Ben Nevis for Children with Cancer UK in May 2015!

Ed was diagnosed with leukaemia seven years ago when he was two and a half. With a long road ahead and lots more hospital visits to come, he decided to try and complete a challenge to help raise money too.

Ed and the team took on the UK’s highest mountain to raise funds to help other children with cancer.

Keeva and James  - two children from the same town - were diagnosed with cancer within just two months of each other.

Their families, friends and community wanted to do something to give back to those who had helped them. After months of fundraising and hard work, almost £20,000 has been raised for Children with Cancer UK. Switching on Christmas lights to raise money for Children with Cancer UK
John and Gina Ferridge have been decorating their home with Christmas lights for 13 years to raise money for Children with Cancer UK.

Sadly Christmas 2015 is the last year they will raise money for us in this way. What made them do it? John and Gina decorated their home with Christmas lights each year to raise money in memory of their son Nick, who died from leukaemia in November 1976, aged just eight.

Gina Ferridge said their display in Arnold's Lane had begun modestly with just a few lights, but had grown annually into a local attraction, with work starting on the increasingly elaborate display at the beginning of October.

A wonderful group, united by their love of fishing, has raised over £65,000 for Children with Cancer UK.

Anglers Against Cancer (AAC) are angling enthusiasts, committed to raising as much as they possibly can to help beat childhood cancer.

They started as a group of friends with a passion for both fishing and fundraising. AAC is now a family of nearly 5,000 anglers, their loved ones and their friends, with a shared goal of raising funds to help treat, and ultimately prevent, cancer in children.
Raffles, fancy dress, a sponsored cycle and more... The anglers have been working tirelessly throughout 2015 to raise vital funds.

In May 2015 the Dileto family, from Broxbourne, hosted a fabulous charity ball that raised a stunning £38,868 for Children with Cancer UK.

After two gruelling years of chemotherapy and injections, many ups and downs and a great deal of stress for the whole family, Clara was thankfully given the all-clear.

She is now a healthy and happy 16 year-old, embarking on her A-Levels.

Young cricketers' Yo-Yo Test fundraiser

Boys and girls from the Cheshire Cricket Board have pushed their bodies to the limit to raise a staggering £3,322 for Children with Cancer UK!

Having tackled the Yo-Yo Test myself on several occasions this winter, I know exactly how much hard work the boys and girls put into their efforts.
