Celebrities support special Zippos Circus performance for children with cancer

Children who are suffering from or have been affected by cancer attended a very special performance at the UK’s number one travelling circus Zippos, on Saturday 24th September, in aid of leading charity CHILDREN with CANCER UK.

Celebrities, including CBeebies favourites Chris Jarvis and Pui Fan Lee and Eastenders stars Steve McFadden and Linda Henry joined the children to enjoy a sensational circus extravaganza, featuring a cast of over twenty performers.

After the show the children, their families, celebrities and performers mingled at a private post show party, where children tried their hand at circus skills.

CHILDREN with CANCER UK has a long association with Zippos Circus. The founder, Martin Burton (aka Zippo the Clown), has helped to entertain children on many occasions – providing special days out for some very special children.

In July 2004, Zippos Circus put on a remarkable performance in Highbury Fields. Here, the late Paul Newman made a special appearance – fulfilling his secret wish to be a clown.

Everything for the special event was donated free of charge, including the party furniture from Just Hire, juice cartons from Costco and lunch by Fare (part of Principal Catering). After a packed day full of fun and laughter, thechildren took home a goody bag filled with treats, kindly donated by Harrods and Hasbro.

All the children who attended have been sponsored to attend the event via a national appeal, spearheaded by Baroness Floella Benjamin.

Baroness Benjamin said "I did not hesitate to say yes when CHILDREN with CANCER UK asked for my support. As a mother myself, I can only imagine the very real suffering endured by children and their families living with cancer. Together we can help children suffering from cancer."
