A day out at Zippos Circus

28 September 2011

Thank you everyone who sponsored a child to attend Zippos circus extravaganza.

Your donations allowed us to invite children with cancer and their families to a unique day with Zippos Circus on Saturday 24th September 2011.

Around 200 VIP guests of CHILDREN with CANCER, including families featured on our website, enjoyed a two hour, sensational circus extravaganza, featuring over 20 performers.

The audience held their breath as motorbikes roared around the cage of death, and laughed at the silly antics of the clowns.
Our guests even tried their hand at some circus skills and met some of our celebrity guests!

Celebrities support

The children met and chatted with the circus performers and celebrity guests from CBeebies and Eastenders.

Chris Jarvis and Pui Fan Lee from cbbc were a huge hit with the little ones, while the older children were thrilled to meet Eastenders stars Linda Henry and Steve McFadden.

Equally, our TV celebrities and circus performers were so happy to have the chance to meet these brave children.

The children you're helping

Chris Jarvis loved meeting Robyn and Jemma Mearns. Jemma was 10 months old when she was diagnosed with leukaemia.

Louisa Buttery and her family also joined us on the day - Louisa was only three weeks old when she was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia (AML).

Paul Newman and Zippos Circus

We have a long association with Zippos Circus. The founder, Martin Burton, has helped us to entertain children on many occasions, providing special days out for some very special children.

In July 2004, Zippos Circus put on a remarkable performance in Highbury Fields. Here, the late Paul Newman made a special appearance – fulfilling his secret wish to be a clown.

Caring for children with cancer

Over the years, we have entertained many thousands of children, helping them to put aside their troubles and have some fun. This event with Zippos Circus
will help us to achieve our aims - to determine the causes, find cures and provide care for children with cancer.
