On 17th April 2019, almost 200 guests, all families with a child with cancer, joined us for a spectacular day out at the Grand Pier in Weston-Super-Mare.
The children and their families were treated as VIP guests for the day with unlimited access to the rides, a buffet lunch and entertainment from a balloon modeller and magician. The Easter bunny also made a special visit and delivered Easter eggs to the children!

When a child is diagnosed with the disease, it affects not just them but the whole family. This day out reminds them that they are youngsters, not just cancer patients. The annual event is in its sixth year and supports families through their difficult treatment journey and during recovery. When Oliver found out he could go to the day out again he was thrilled. It’s great of the charity to hold the event for the children, even after they’ve gone through their treatment and have been given the all clear.
– Sarah, Oliver’s mum.
These events, organised by Children with Cancer UK, are so important because they give you a chance to meet other families in similar circumstances.
Being able to be ‘normal’, to not have to explain why your child has no hair, why their eating habits are bizarre, why they tire so easily, makes for a far less stressful day.
– Rachel, Suzi’s mum.
