We were delighted to have been voted by Coral’s staff as their Charity of the Year partner for 2014/15, which was then extended into 2016.
At the beginning of the partnership, Coral pledged to raise £500,000 for Children with Cancer UK by the end of 2015. Today, the partnership has now reached an incredible £2m for our work, exceeding all expectations.
Since 2014, Coral’s team of dedicated staff have raised these momentous funds through various fundraising activities ranging from climbing Kilimanjaro to holding bake sales, taking on quizzes to embarking on challenges, hosting summer parties and Christmas parties to holding their very own football tournament. The activities have been non-stop and jam packed, and Coral’s staff commitment and passion to raise funds to reach this incredible milestone has been relentless.
In addition to this fundraising activity, we have also benefitted from the sale of Coral scratch cards. Through this incentive, Children with Cancer UK receive 20% of sales of Coral’s £1, £2, £5 and £10 cards, which has raised over £1m alone for our vital work.
Making a difference
David Stevens from Coral’s Charity Committee tells us:
“We are delighted and extremely proud to have reached this hugely significant fundraising milestone – a figure that owes everything to the generosity and hard work of both our Coral colleagues and customers. Every penny we raise makes such a difference to those that need the help Children with Cancer UK so brilliantly provides.”
Jayne Falconer, Major Relationships Manager and Coral’s Account Manager said:
“Thank you so much to Coral staff for your incredible support of Children with Cancer UK. Our fantastic partnership is the biggest and most successful partnership both the company and charity have ever had, showing just how engaged Coral staff are in our cause. The money they have raised has and continues to help children and young people throughout the UK fighting for their lives. I have loved working with your dedicated team and look forward to continue our partnership together”.
We were delighted to have been partnered with the Tex-Mex chain, Chiquito throughout 2016.
They managed to raise just over £22,000 for Children with Cancer UK. This incredible amount was achieved through special events, themed restaurant fundraisers and through sales of a bespoke Chiquito Recipe Book.
With 87 restaurants and 100,000 guests visiting each week there were plenty of opportunities for staff and customers to fundraise, and with such an enthusiastic team this was an extremely fun partnership.
Linda, Northern Operations Manager from Chiquito says:
“I suggested working with Children with Cancer UK as I have gone through this personally and feel strongly that no child should have to deal with cancer. The work of Children with Cancer UK is a massive help to families across the country, whilst also funding essential research that will help beat cancer for good. We are extremely proud to support them.”
Jason Green, Managing Director tell us:
“Children with Cancer UK is a charity that, unfortunately, far too many people can relate to. Cancer needs to be dealt with, full stop – and anything that we as an organisation can do to help will be a privilege.”
We were delighted that the staff of Majestic Wine voted for us to be their Charity of the Year 2013.
Money was raised through collection tins in stores, mobile phone and printer cartridge recycling and staff fundraising activities. Over the course of the partnership they raised £54,000.
Majestic Wine also held a weekend promotion in November 2013 to celebrate the opening of their 200th shop donating £1 from every bottle of champagne sold to us which raised an amazing £11,000!
Steve Lewis, Chief Executive, Majestic Wine:
“I’m delighted that we managed to raise over £54,000 for such a great cause. The work Children with Cancer UK do is vitally important and all of us at Majestic Wine are very proud of our year in partnership.”
Nilly Sutton, Senior Corporate Partnerships Manager at Children with Cancer UK said:
“We are extremely grateful to all the staff at Majestic Wine for choosing us as their Charity of the Year 2013 and they raised a fantastic sum. Children with Cancer UK relies entirely on voluntary donations to continue our vital work. With Majestic Wine’s support, we will be able to help more children and save more lives.”
Our Charity of the Year partnership with Igloo Books raised a staggering £100,500 throughout 2013-14 for Children with Cancer UK.
Igloo Books’ 90 employees raised money through various events such as a summer fete, Masquerade Ball, Halloween fundraising, Three Peaks Challenge and their biggest event, ‘One Big Effort’.
One Big Effort saw 30 participants cycling 180 miles from Paris to Calais, a row across the English Channel, a run from Dover to the capital before completing the London Marathon. This event was one of a kind and over the course of the week challenge, some of our team went to support them along the way.
John Styring, MD at Igloo Books, commented: “Charity is very close to our hearts at Igloo, it’s a wonderful means of coming together and giving something back. Children with Cancer UK is a fantastic charity, and we’re motivated to try and raise as much for them as possible because we know how much good work they are doing. We are very much looking forward to working closely with the inspirational Children with Cancer UK team, and getting stuck into our fundraising activities.”
Igloo cheque presentation. Nilly Sutton, Senior Corporate Partnerships Manager at Children with Cancer UK, says: “We are so proud of our partnership with Igloo Books. The staff were so engaged and enthusiastic. They raised over £100,000, smashing their target of £75,000 which is a fantastic achievement for any company let alone one with 100 staff!”
Toys “R” Us is Britain’s and the world’s leading toy megastore. They have an unbeatable range of toys, baby care, video games, bikes and outdoor fun products for all the family.
We were delighted to have been chosen by Toys “R” Us to benefit from the sale of their charity bags. From August 2012, they sold these colourful reusable charity bags for 20p, with all profits (minimum 2p per bag) being donated to Children with Cancer UK.
Since August 2012 Toys R Us raised over £47,000 through the sales of the bags. We received a minimum donation of 2p per bag, which means that over 1 million bags were sold. A huge thanks everyone who bought one – and to Toys “R” Us for raising money for us in this way.
