Christmas is a time for giving. Whilst many of us will be enjoying time with our loved ones at home, families affected by cancer don’t have the luxury of a worry-free Christmas, and may even be spending theirs in hospital. Our Christmas appeal focuses on these families.

This Christmas you can help bring hope to children suffering from cancer; Luke was diagnosed with a very rare form of cancer (hepatoblastoma) when he was 6 months old.

Please see below the memories of Claire, Luke’s mum, as well as what impact your donations can have this Christmas.

Help keep families together this Christmas.

Luke’s mum remembers…

I can still remember sitting in the hospital waiting room, Luke asleep next to me and a Christmas tree opposite whilst carols played joyfully. He looked so healthy and contented. I was sure that the doctors would tell me that the lump I had discovered was nothing. But instead my baby boy was diagnosed and we started the long journey that is cancer.

Christmas should be about family, but Luke’s very first Christmas was about cancer. Today I am asking for your help, to create better treatments and to fund projects that will support other children like my Luke.

…can help families like Luke’s cope with the additional costs that are caused by cancer treatment

snowflake imageChristmas is an expensive time for every family, but when your child has cancer there are also the associated costs of cancer treatment, and potential loss of earnings to worry about. Paul’s Fund provides families with money to help them through, so they can prioritise being with their child.

…can help provide a family like Luke’s with a place to stay, close to where their child is being treated

snowflake imageVital cancer treatment is often only available at hospitals many miles from home. To be by their child’s side, families need to either make long, tiring journeys each day, or pay to stay nearby. We help fund the building of free, comfortable accommodation so children can be with their families when they need them most.

…can help fund vital research that will help save children like Luke and ultimately keep more families together

snowflake imageCurrently only 3% of all cancer funding in the UK goes towards childhood cancers. With more and more children like Luke being diagnosed every day we vitally need to ensure that life-saving research does not go unfunded.
