Who you are helping

Initially, when Zunairah first became ill, the idea of cancer could not have been further from our thoughts. It was all unforeseen. During winter Zuni got an infection, at first we thought it was normal and just to do with the cold weather, but eventually, our one year old was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia and our lives fell apart.

Zuni’s treatment lasted for over three years. Throughout this period Zuni was very fragile. The chemotherapy caused various dramatic changes in her appearance. As a family we had to keep up with anger issues and mood swings caused by the toxic treatment – Zuni even forgot how to walk.

We were so happy when she rang the end of treatment bell. Zuni was excited as lots of family and friends came together to celebrate. We couldn’t believe she completed her journey.
