Coral

We were delighted to be voted by Coral’s staff as their Charity of the Year partner for 2014/15, extended into 2016. At the partnership’s start, Coral pledged to raise £500,000 for Children with Cancer UK by the end of 2015. The partnership then reached an incredible £2m, exceeding expectations. Since 2014, Coral’s dedicated staff raised funds through various activities, including climbing Kilimanjaro, holding bake sales, quizzes, seasonal parties, and their own football tournament. Coral’s staff commitment and passion to reach this milestone were relentless. Additionally, we benefited from the sale of Coral scratch cards, raising over £1m alone for our vital work.

David Stevens from Coral’s Charity Committee says;

We are delighted and extremely proud to have reached this fundraising milestone, owing everything to the generosity and hard work of both our Coral colleagues and customers.

Jayne Falconer, Major Relationships Manager, and Coral’s Account Manager adds;

Thank you to Coral staff for your incredible support of Children with Cancer UK. Our fantastic partnership is the biggest and most successful both the company and charity have ever had, showing Coral staff’s engagement in our cause. The money raised continues to help children throughout the UK fighting for their lives. I look forward to continuing our partnership together.

Kwik Fit

Kwik Fit had selected Children with Cancer UK as its first-ever Charity of the Year following a vote open to more than 5,000 Kwik Fit employees across the UK. Children with Cancer UK had received over half of the votes cast. The partnership, which ran throughout 2019, had a fundraising target of £1,000,000 with the objective of raising funds to support Children with Cancer UK’s work.

Mark Slade, Managing Director of Kwik Fit, had said;

We were really looking forward to working with Children with Cancer UK that year. The work they did and the families they helped clearly resonated with our staff right across the UK. We had events planned throughout the country with the aim of making a real difference to the charity.

During the year, Kwik Fit ran a host of fundraising activities to support the work that they did, including a major cycling event connecting Kwik Fit centres, mass participation by staff in the Virgin Money London Marathon and the Simplyhealth Great North Run, a staff lottery, golf days, and other local events

RS Components

RS Components was the UK, European, and Asia Pacific trading brand of Electrocomponents plc. The partnership had started in 2017, and to date, RS had raised over £150,000 with an estimated target of £350,000 for 2018. RS employees had taken part in a wide range of activities to fundraise for Children With Cancer UK, the leading national charity dedicated to the fight against childhood cancer. These had included them taking on mountains in the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge, being knocked off their perch into cold waters in the Rutland Water Aqua Park Challenge, and jumping from a plane in a skydive, as well as participating in the challenging London Marathon in April 2018.

Mike England, head of the region for Northern Europe, had said;

Our partnership with Children with Cancer UK started back in April 2017, and we’re delighted to have raised so much already. Our staff at RS have been amazing at embracing the cause, and have been organising lots of activities to raise funds. As well as the big challenges, there are many other team and individual activities that are all contributing to this fantastic effort. I am really proud of the team and their achievements.

Igloo Books

Our Charity of the Year partnership with Igloo Books raised a staggering £100,500 throughout 2013-14 for Children with Cancer UK. Igloo Books’ 90 employees raised money through various events such as a summer fete, Masquerade Ball, Halloween fundraising, Three Peaks Challenge and their biggest event, ‘One Big Effort’.

One Big Effort saw 30 participants cycling 180 miles from Paris to Calais, a row across the English Channel, a run from Dover to the capital before completing the London Marathon. This event was one of a kind and over the course of the week-long challenge, some of our team went to support them along the way.

John Styring, MD at Igloo Books, commented;

Charity is very close to our hearts at Igloo, it’s a wonderful means of coming together and giving something back. Children with Cancer UK is a fantastic charity, and we’re motivated to try and raise as much for them as possible because we know how much good work they are doing.

Toys R Us

Toys “R” Us has a storied history that spans several decades. Toys “R” Us was founded by Charles Lazarus in Washington, D.C., in 1948. Initially, the store focused on baby furniture and products.

Now Toys “R” Us offers a great selection of toys, baby care items, video games, bicycles, and outdoor entertainment products designed for the entire family.

We were delighted to have been chosen by Toys “R” Us to benefit from the sale of their charity bags. From August 2012, they sold colourful reusable charity bags for 20p, with all profits (minimum 2p per bag) being donated to Children with Cancer UK. Since August 2012 Toys R Us raised over £47,000 through the sales of the bags. We received a minimum donation of 2p per bag, which means that over 1 million bags were sold. A huge thanks everyone who bought one – and to Toys “R” Us for raising money for us in this way.
