Press release: Children with Cancer UK announced as Sainsbury’s Bloomsbury local charity partner of the year 2013
Tuesday 6th August: For immediate release
Staff at Sainsbury’s in Bloomsbury, WC1, have nominated leading children’s charity, Children with Cancer UK, as it’s new charity partner of the year. The charity, which is based near the store in Great Ormond Street, fund life-saving research into the causes, prevention and treatment of childhood cancer.
Sainsbury’s Local Charity scheme, now in its fifth year, has raised over £5million pounds for good causes. The scheme enables customers and staff to nominate a local charity. Three shortlisted charities are then invited to present to Sainsbury’s colleague councils, who select a suitable charity to fundraise and volunteer with.
Sainsbury’s announced the charity partners in June 2013. Fundraising activities are already underway, which include collections tins in store and the bucket collection day. Other fundraising activities will be announced throughout the year.
Nilly Sutton, Senior Corporate Partnerships Manager at Children with Cancer UK said “We are thrilled to be Sainsbury’s Bloomsbury charity partner of the year. It’s a store many of our staff visit and it’s great to see our collection tins and branding on display. We look forward to working closely with them throughout the coming year.”
Children with Cancer UK is the leading national children’s charity dedicated to the fight against childhood cancer. The charity funds life-saving research into the causes, prevention and treatment of childhood cancer and works to protect young lives through essential welfare and campaigning programmes.
