Paul’s House, Belfast
In February 2013, we donated £375,000 to Young Lives vs Cancer to help launch Paul’s House, a ‘Home from Home’ in Belfast.
A ‘Home from Home’ in Belfast
The cost of travel and temporary accommodation is a huge financial strain for some families in Northern Ireland. Paul’s House aims to provide free accommodation for families whose children are having cancer treatment at the Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children.
Young Lives vs Cancer has invested more than £1.5 million to establish its first ‘Home from Home’ in Belfast. The funds will help to support children with cancer and their families at the home for three years.
Paul’s House, named after our founder, Paul O’Gorman, opened its doors to families in January 2014.

The Home from Home features
- Four large en-suite family bedrooms
- Communal living and kitchen spaces
- A dedicated quiet room and play space.
Children with Cancer UK Donations
Paul’s House, Belfast was officially opened in December 2013 by the then Minister for Health, Edwin Poots, alongside former World Featherweight Boxing Champion Barry McGuigan and his wife Sandra—both Patrons of Young Lives vs Cancer. The special event was also attended by our former trustee, Sandra Mileham, and Paul O’Gorman’s brother.
Thanks to your generosity, Children with Cancer UK has donated more than £2 million to Young Lives vs Cancer since 2007. Your valuable support helps to keep families together and reduce the financial burden associated with childhood cancer.
The new home welcomed families from January 2014.
