Fundraiser of the Month: Ryan
We couldn’t be doing what we’re doing, investing in research and supporting families, without our amazing fundraisers, large and small.
Fundraiser of the Month for August 2024 is awarded to Ryan, who wanted to raise money for Children with Cancer UK by running 100 miles.
20 September 2024

What’s the fundraising challenge you set yourself and why?
To run 100 miles as quickly as possible in one continuous effort! I choose this because I have always kept fit by running but really wanted to set a hard challenge for myself so people could get behind me and support the charity.
How much money have you raised so far?
So far I have raised £4,505 for Children with Cancer UK, including Gift Aid.

Why did you decide to fundraise for Children with Cancer UK?
I chose this charity as I saw the effect cancer had on my father and subsequently my family. Now, as a parent myself I cannot imagine what it would be like for a child facing a cancer diagnosis.
How’s your challenge going? If it’s completed – how did you find it?
I can sum up my challenge by saying it was an amazing adventure. I had such an incredible support team and to share it with them was an experience I’ll never forget. Once I completed the distance, I was overwhelmed as all the hard work, training, and commitment to completing such a challenge was worth it. Seeing the generous donations and words of support coming in just made it even more special. Knowing that this money will help in so many ways.
What would you say to anyone else who is considering taking on a fundraising challenge?
Just go for it as it is such an amazing cause, knowing that everything you do will benefit Children with Cancer UK.
