It is with great regret that we have made the difficult decision to cancel this year’s Opera at Syon in September.
The continued uncertainty surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic has meant that we are unable to continue confidently in the organisation of the event. It still remains unclear whether large event gatherings will be permitted in September and our first priority is the safety of guests, performers and staff.
Due to COVID-19 and the postponement and cancellation of such events we are facing an income loss of more than 66% this year. We hope to organise a virtual event in place of this event and others that were due to run in 2020 to mitigate some of these losses and we look forward to sharing these plans in due course.
We held our 28th year of Opera at Syon on Wednesday 12th June and Thursday 13th June.
Over two nights, guests enjoyed a stunning performance by Diva Opera of L’italiana in Algeri and Madama Butterfly and a delicious dinner in the beautiful setting of the Great Conservatory at Syon Park.
We had some fantastic items up for auction including a week’s holiday in San Francisco, tickets to see The Magic Flute at The Royal Opera House and exclusive jewellery designed by Nada Le Cavelier.
The Opera at Syon evenings have raised an incredible total of over £1.4 million for Children with Cancer UK to date.
We were grateful to be joined at the event by two researchers funded by us, Dr Srdan Rogosic and Professor Sibylle Mittnacht. They spoke about their important research into safer and more effective childhood cancer treatments.
We really appreciate the fantastic support of all who attended Opera at Syon and helped to make it so special.
Many thanks to the following individuals and companies who helped to make the event truly magical:
