Fundraiser of the Month: Darragh
Our Fundraiser of the Month for March 2026 goes to Darragh, who took on the Bristol Winter Warmer 5k as his fundraising challenge.
What’s the fundraising challenge you’ve set yourself and why?
I chose to run the Bristol Winter Warmer 5k as my challenge. I really enjoy running, and I’d been wanting to raise money for Children with Cancer UK for a while but wasn’t sure how to start.
When I heard about this race, it felt like a big challenge because I had never run that far before. The hills at Ashton Court are really tough too, so I knew I’d have to train properly. I wanted to push myself and see if I could do it, while also helping other children.
Why did you decide to fundraise for us?
I decided to fundraise for Children with Cancer UK because I wanted to help children who are not well and are finding things hard.
I thought it would be really good if I could do something to help them feel better and support their families too.
It also helps scientists find better treatments for children, which made me feel proud that what I do could really make a difference.
How much money have you raised so far?
I have raised £844 so far! I feel really happy and proud. Lots of people donated to support me and I’m very grateful for everyone who helped. It was amazing to see how many people wanted to cheer me on and help raise money.
What would you say to anyone else who are considering taking on a fundraising challenge?
I would say, just do it! It might seem a bit hard at first, but it’s really fun. I kept in mind that I was running for other children, which made it feel really special and gave me extra motivation.
Having so much support from others helped me get a lot of confidence as well. Raising money to help other children makes it even better, and you’ll feel really proud when you finish.
We couldn’t be doing what we’re doing, investing in research and supporting families, without our amazing fundraisers.
A massive thank you to Darragh for taking on these challenges to support childhood cancer awareness and research.
