Fundraiser of the Month: Freddie

We couldn’t be doing what we’re doing, investing in research and supporting families, without our amazing fundraisers, large and small.

What’s the fundraising challenge you set yourself and why?

My dad and I originally set a challenge to walk 10 miles in aid of Children with Cancer UK, contributing to a company event named the SQEP 10 challenge. This combined celebrating the 10-year anniversary of SQEP, with fundraising for this outstanding cause. After completing the walk, I was inspired to go to my school and raise more money by hosting a merchandise sale in support of Children with Cancer UK. This event enabled parents and pupils to buy items and help me in my journey of raising money for this special charity.

How much money have you raised so far?

From my 10-mile walk and merchandise sale I have raised approximately £400 which I am incredibly proud of. Thank you to everyone that helped.

Why did you decide to fundraise for Children with Cancer UK?

When choosing a charity for the SQEP 10 challenge, Children with Cancer UK got the most votes. Before the big day, I had a look through the Children with Cancer UK website and I knew that this was the right charity for me to support.

How’s your challenge going? If it’s completed – how did you find it?

In my opinion, a real challenge is never finished, but I have no doubt that there are more challenges yet to come my way. Honestly, I thought running the stall at my school was a lot harder than walking 10 miles, however it was a memory worth treasuring.

What would you say to anyone else who is considering taking on a fundraising challenge?

I’ve enjoyed the first steps of my adventure for this special cause. To anyone that wants to help support children, I would say give fundraising a go and see what you can do to help. Every little contribution does help children and families in their time of need. If you get stuck in a challenge, never give up and keep on going.
