Fundraiser of the Month: The Hope Ball

The Hope Ball Team

A group of friends got together to start raising funds for Children with Cancer UK by organising a charity ball.

Fay Hirel, a member of the group, said:

We had seen friends of ours go through very difficult times as their children were diagnosed with cancer so we wanted to do what we could to help. We decided to hold charity events, such as The Hope Ball and themed nights. Our group includes a DJ, photographer and a friend who dresses venues for weddings and parties so it felt like the obvious thing to do!

When asked how The Hope Ball went, Fay said:

With around six months of planning, our first Hope Ball was a huge success. We had over 360 people attend, a large raffle, music bingo, an auction and a fantastic band. All of the hard work paid off and the night was amazing and quite overwhelming.

The Hope Ball Team are already planning their second Hope Ball in addition to an 80s themed evening.

To anyone thinking of hosting a fundraiser, the group of friends said:

Go for it! It can be hard work but with the right support around you it is really worth it. We are really excited to be holding two further events and maybe more after that and it’s amazing to raise such a large amount.

By hosting The Hope Ball, the friend group have raised an amazing £10,000 for Children with Cancer UK’s work, which will help us invest in more life-saving childhood cancer research. We’d like to say a huge thank you for your support – it is only thanks to supporters like you that we can continue our work.
