Fundraiser of the Month: Shyanne

Our Fundraiser of the Month for July 2026 goes to the incredible Shyanne, who has been fundraising for us for over 30 years.

“Do it to help others who can’t help themselves.”

Our Fundraiser of the Month goes to Shyanne, who started fundraising all the way back when our charity was still named ‘Children with Leukaemia’ in 1996.

Shyanne has been supporting us for the last 30 years, and hopes to reach her goal of £250k. With the help of landlords and landladies who do seasonal raffles for her, she has already raised an astonishing £168k. Her support means we can continue funding the development of better treatments and supporting children with cancer.

Among the many fundraising events she’s taken part in, Shyanne did a St Trinian’s theme walk, which started with just 10 people. Over 15 years, it grew to over 100 people doing the 10–12-mile walk, from Wigan to St Helen’s. After the walks finished, Shyanne would go about the area placing collection tins in pubs, bars, and shops.

Shyanne and others fundraising

Why did you decide to fundraise for Children with Cancer?

Because the children don’t stand a chance without the research and help to aid them.

What’s kept Shyanne motivated all these years?

She fundraises for Children with Cancer UK because it gives her purpose. Her cousin also faced a cancer diagnosis, and she wants to help experts better battle the disease.

Shyanne would like to thank all the people throughout the years who have generously given their time, effort, and donations received to the charity.

Thank you, Shyanne. We couldn’t be doing what we’re doing without amazing fundraisers like her!
