Coral

We were delighted to have been voted by Coral’s staff as their Charity of the Year partner for 2014/15, which was then extended into 2016. At the beginning of the partnership, Coral pledged to raise £500,000 for Children with Cancer UK by the end of 2015. Today, the partnership has now reached an incredible £2m for our work, exceeding all expectations. Since 2014, Coral’s team of dedicated staff have raised these momentous funds through various fundraising activities ranging from climbing Kilimanjaro to holding bake sales, taking on quizzes to embarking on challenges, hosting summer parties and Christmas parties to holding their very own football tournament. The activities have been non-stop and jam packed, and Coral’s staff commitment and passion to raise funds to reach this incredible milestone has been relentless. In addition to this fundraising activity, we have also benefitted from the sale of Coral scratch cards. Through this incentive, Children with Cancer UK receive 20% of sales of Coral’s £1, £2, £5 and £10 cards, which has raised over £1m alone for our vital work. Making a difference David Stevens from Coral’s Charity Committee tells us: “We are delighted and extremely proud to have reached this hugely significant fundraising milestone – a figure that owes everything to the generosity and hard work of both our Coral colleagues and customers. Every penny we raise makes such a difference to those that need the help Children with Cancer UK so brilliantly provides.” Jayne Falconer, Major Relationships Manager and Coral’s Account Manager said: “Thank you so much to Coral staff for your incredible support of Children with Cancer UK. Our fantastic partnership is the biggest and most successful partnership both the company and charity have ever had, showing just how engaged Coral staff are in our cause. The money they have raised has and continues to help children and young people throughout the UK fighting for their lives. I have loved working with your dedicated team and look forward to continue our partnership together”.

Chiquito

We were delighted to have been partnered with the Tex-Mex chain, Chiquito throughout 2016. They managed to raise just over £22,000 for Children with Cancer UK. This incredible amount was achieved through special events, themed restaurant fundraisers and through sales of a bespoke Chiquito Recipe Book. With 87 restaurants and 100,000 guests visiting each week there were plenty of opportunities for staff and customers to fundraise, and with such an enthusiastic team this was an extremely fun partnership. Linda, Northern Operations Manager from Chiquito says: “I suggested working with Children with Cancer UK as I have gone through this personally and feel strongly that no child should have to deal with cancer. The work of Children with Cancer UK is a massive help to families across the country, whilst also funding essential research that will help beat cancer for good. We are extremely proud to support them.” Jason Green, Managing Director tell us: “Children with Cancer UK is a charity that, unfortunately, far too many people can relate to. Cancer needs to be dealt with, full stop – and anything that we as an organisation can do to help will be a privilege.”

Igloo Books

Our Charity of the Year partnership with Igloo Books raised a staggering £100,500 throughout 2013-14 for Children with Cancer UK. Igloo Books’ 90 employees raised money through various events such as a summer fete, Masquerade Ball, Halloween fundraising, Three Peaks Challenge and their biggest event, ‘One Big Effort’. One Big Effort saw 30 participants cycling 180 miles from Paris to Calais, a row across the English Channel, a run from Dover to the capital before completing the London Marathon. This event was one of a kind and over the course of the week challenge, some of our team went to support them along the way. John Styring, MD at Igloo Books, commented: “Charity is very close to our hearts at Igloo, it’s a wonderful means of coming together and giving something back. Children with Cancer UK is a fantastic charity, and we’re motivated to try and raise as much for them as possible because we know how much good work they are doing.
