Digital Event Series

Demystify – humanise – connect. This new event aimed to provide a set of short programs based on a TV talk show format to make them easily accessible and highly watchable. The series introduced families who were new to having a child diagnosed with cancer to the charity and what it could do, shared positive stories of hope and progress, reached a wide range of audiences in a fresh new format by bringing together stories from families, staff, researchers and more, and engaged potential fundraisers and supporters, and much more.

All events featured different aspects of our work as well as different stories of the children. The digital series existed to serve and showcase some of the amazing ways supporters, volunteers and staff had made a difference to so many families.

Event two: Research – premiered on 20 November at 7pm.

In this event, we looked at one of the core activities supported by funds that Children with Cancer UK raised, again with the aim of demystifying the subject and making it accessible. In the programme we explored:

  • How Children with Cancer UK supported research
  • Why it was so important
  • We started to put it into layman’s terms
  • We met some of those who had direct experience of the real difference research into childhood cancer treatments could make

For this event we met:

  • Ellen, a young cancer survivor with a powerful and unique story to tell
  • Christiana, Head of Research at Children with Cancer UK, who explained a little of how Children with Cancer UK works with researchers and how it decides where the grants are placed
  • Professor Bruce Morland, one of our Trustees, who explained exactly what research actually is
  • And Sharon, mum to Harry, who spoke passionately saying:

Research must continue. We must keep talking about the over 200 different types of cancer that children can get. We must research for kinder treatments for children and we must make health professionals aware of the concerns we have about our children.

Join us for Event One: Impact – Premieres Monday 16 October at 7pm

Be part of something powerful. Our brand-new video series, hosted by Children with Cancer UK CEO Jo Elvin, shines a light on the real journeys of children and families affected by cancer – and the hope that shines through.

This first episode begins to demystify the cancer journey and shows how the support we provide makes a lasting difference to families across the UK.

You’ll hear from:

  • Luisa, whose son Theo found strength in the Beads of Courage UK programme, backed by Children with Cancer UK
  • Natasha, who shares how her family found a new way of living after Sebastian’s diagnosis
  • The “Marathon Mums,” who built a powerful support network through fundraising

Funding research

We invest in crucial childhood cancer research that would otherwise go unfunded.
