Thanks to visionary research that you have helped to fund, survival rate for children affected by leukaemia has risen from 64% to 88%, proof that research really does lead to recovery.
Children with Cancer UK is currently funding more than 50 research projects across the UK; however, we receive no government funding, and only 3% of UK cancer funding goes towards childhood cancer.
Daisy was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia on 5th September 2016 at the age of four.
Nothing can prepare you for seeing your little girl’s lovely blonde hair thinning and falling out in great big clumps as you brush it. I can’t recall the amount of times that made me cry but I often had tears in my eyes. Daisy handled it far better than I did, she didn’t bat an eyelid at being a baldy!
Daisy finished her treatment in November 2018 and got to ring the End of Treatment Bell. She is doing great, she’s bright, bubbly, smart, funny, sociable, and I couldn’t be more proud of her.
Andrew, Daisy’s dad.
