Fundraiser of the Month: The 5 in 5 team

From the Lake District to Nottingham in five days

The 5 in 5 Team, Tullia, Rebecca, Molly and Samantha completed five marathons in five days over the Summer. Sadly, Tullia’s dad was diagnosed with cancer nearly two years ago. After several surgeries, chemotherapy and radiotherapy, he is still fighting to beat cancer. Having seen what her dad has been through, Tullia and her friends decided they wanted to make a difference to those in similar circumstances. It was this way the idea of walking five marathons in five days, taking them from the Lake District to Nottingham, came to be. Tullia said:
He is my inspiration, and knowing how tough the last two years have been for my Dad, our family and friends, I decided I wanted to do something to help people who are going through, or have been through similar cancer journeys.
The trek and their first marathon began on 19 June, and the team walked during what ended up being some of the hottest days this Summer, completing their challenge as intended. We want to say a huge well done and congratulations to Tullia, Rebecca, Molly and Samantha for completing a tough challenge, and for raising such an incredible amount in the process. The team has now raised over £6,500 for Children with Cancer UK. Thank you for helping to fund vital research, which aims to develop safer, kinder and more effective childhood cancer treatments, so that more children and young people can ring the end of treatment bell.
