Tips to fundraise for Children with Cancer UK.

We’re here to help you get the most from your efforts – take a look at the following charity fundraising ideas, hints and tips to get you started!

1. Get noticed

Sending a press release to local media could give your events and other fundraising ideas a real boost. After all, if no one knows about what you’re doing, they won’t come.

If you are organising a local event that may be of public interest, or something out of the ordinary, contact your local paper, radio or TV station. We can help you so please do give us a call on 0800 222 9000.

2. Make the most of online fundraising tools

We’ve teamed up with JustGiving to provide a secure online service that makes fundraising quick and easy.

No matter what your fundraising idea, you can create a personal e-fundraising homepage and begin collecting donations from friends, family and colleagues in minutes.

3. Add Gift Aid

If you’re collecting sponsorship for an event, don’t forget to ask your sponsors to complete a Gift Aid declaration. It won’t cost you or them a penny, and can increase your charity fundraising total by 25% – now there’s an idea!

All we need is the name and home address (including postcode) of the donor. This information is not put on our database for mailing purposes, so your donor’s details are safe. We don’t even require a signature!

4. Encourage company support

Your employer or local businesses can be a huge help with your fundraising, either by donating money or goods. There are a variety of ways that you can go about promoting this, including:

  • Asking your company to equal what you raise – many companies have a matched giving scheme allowing you to double what you have raised!
  • Writing ‘ask’ letters – write to local companies asking for a direct donation, or if they might offer to donate a prize for a raffle or auction for your event.

5. Share your story with us!

Please send us your pictures and stories from your event; we’d love to share them with our community! Reading about your events and creative fundraising ideas can be one of the most encouraging things for new supporters and we often share the work you’re doing on Facebook and Twitter.
