Creating magical Christmas memories

Wherever families are on their cancer journey during the festive season, we help provide fun opportunities for them to spend time together.

On 24 December 2023, we invited 15 families to see the incredible Disney on Ice at the O2 Arena. Generously donated by AEG, families affected by childhood cancer were able to immerse themselves in Disney’s 100 Years of Wonder performance from private suites that provided them with a VIP experience.

Disney on Ice is a series of touring ice shows with professional figure skaters bringing the characters from classic Disney films to life.

Lucy, mum of Jacob, said:

It meant the world to me to have some time with my son, just me and him, not at the hospital or with talks of chemotherapy and just taking some time to feel a bit of normality. We had the best time especially it being on Christmas Eve as we really got in the spirit and it felt magical! It already beaten last year’s Christmas Eve by not being in hospital but having a wonderful day out together.

Penny, mum of Eve, said:

It was fabulous knowing we had Disney on Ice to look forward to. Eve is Disney mad and convinced she’s going to work for Disney one day – the performance was fantastic, plenty of singing along to her favourite bits. We had such a great day out and it being Christmas Eve was the icing on the cake – thank you so much, it was the best day out and also lovely to get to meet other families too – the perfect Christmas treat.

Children with Cancer UK would like to thank AEG and Hiten Vora for helping to create such a special memory for these children and their families. If you’d like to hear more about our events for families, please visit this page to find out how you can get involved.
