Our special Christmas parties

Our special outings and events for children with cancer and their families provide a memorable day out and a much needed break from treatments and hospital visits.

Magical Christmas parties with Santa

In December 2019, we hosted our first ever Christmas parties for children affected by cancer and their families, one in London and one in Manchester. There was face painting, gingerbread man decorating, a visit from Elsa, delicious food and of course, a visit to Santa where the little ones received a special gift. The London Christmas party was ‘Brunch with Santa’ at the Hard Rock Hotel on 8 December. The Manchester Christmas party was ‘Breakfast with Santa’ at the Hard Rock Café on 15 December. The amazing days out that you help to fund, give families going through childhood cancer the chance to meet other families facing a similar situation.

Creating lasting memories

We were excited to be joined by Nigel Clarke, CBBC presenter, at the London Christmas party. Cel Spellman, Cold Feet and Waterloo Road actor and CBBC presenter came along to the Manchester Christmas party. Our goal was to give children with cancer the chance to enjoy the magic of Christmas with their families, helping them to create lasting memories at this special time of year. At each party, there was a Christmas tree full of baubles with messages from our supporters. It was so special for the families to read these messages full of kindness and Christmas cheer. A huge thank you to the special families who joined us for our first ever Christmas parties!

What this party meant to us
It’s really important to see families at all stages of treatment. It gives you a real sense that there’s a beginning, a middle and an end to this whole trauma that you’re going through. Doing something like this, letting them forget about the hospital and the chemo and all the hardship that they experienced and just having a lot of fun, it’s so important for families who go through this kind of treatment to feel like they’re not alone. Thinking about families like this and supporting us, it’s a very comforting space.

Bringing happiness and excitement back to our children
These events are so important to families like ours. They bring happiness and excitement back to our children who have missed out on so many childhood experiences, whilst undergoing harsh treatments. Harlie was so excited to meet Santa and she loved having her face painted. It made her feel like a princess. She just loved the whole experience and all of the excitement surrounding it.
